Janelle paced around the living room, irritated at every noise emitted from each of the many other humans in the house, and frustrated at the heavy rain pouring down on the other side of the window. She tapped her fingers in a cascading pattern on the windowsill, the rhythm comforting to her, but annoying to her mother, who promptly and sharply demanded that she stop.
Janelle rolled her eyes, but shoved her hand into her sweater pocket. Her younger siblings crashed into her while each shrieking that they were supposed to have a turn on the Nintendo Switch, and Janelle had to grab the electronic device from them before they accidentally broke it.
The moment the rain stopped, Janelle was grabbing the dog’s leash, and calling out to her mom that she was going to take him for a walk. Once outside, she breathed a deep sigh of relief, and savoured the freedom of getting to decide where she wanted to go.

This story was written in response to two prompts. First, GirlieOnTheEdge’s Six Sentence Story challenge: walk. Second, Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie’s Sunday Writing Prompt: freedom.
Brilliant illustration of the catharsis escaping a hectic situation cooped up indoors 🙂

Welcome to Six Sentence Stories, Nicole.
An excellent example of one situation influencing the greater appreciation of another.
There’s no better feeling than going outside after a long rainy day stuck indoors! Talk about contrast, lol

Welcome to the 6SS, Nicole 🙂 I so wanted that rain to stop so Janelle could escape with the dog! It’s a story easily related to our Covid times too, with many feeling imprisoned indoors.

Great combination of prompts – you took us slap bang into that closed in room… and then effected our escape. Nice one, Nicole 🙂

Surely a most timely of themes! Our physical location is an element of reality that is, somehow, often overlooked.
Engaging Six.

You encapsulated precisely that ‘stir crazy’ feeling we have all experienced in recent times.

There is a sense of relief in being able to make a decision for oneself rather than responding to constraints of others.

Well expressed tension. I’m guessing the dog was just as anxious to take her for a walk. HaHa.
